MSc (Physiotherapy)

Entry to physiotherapy practice 

The MSc (Physiotherapy) degree provides preparation for licencing exams necessary to practice physiotherapy.

Basic science content is integrated with physiotherapy-specific course content across eight academic modules addressing the following transcurricular themes:

  • clinical reasoning and best practices;
  • professionalism, leadership and collaboration; 
  • therapeutic exercise;
  • health promotion and secondary prevention;
  • ethical reasoning and cultural sensitivity;
  • innovation and entrepreneurship; 
  • and communication.

Clinical placements of six weeks duration, under professional supervision, are taken at a variety of facilities at five intervals throughout the program.    

The MSc (Physiotherapy) program is designed to develop an educational qualification for entry to the physiotherapy profession.

Physiotherapy programs are accredited by Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada (PEAC), Suite 26, 509 Commissioners Road West, London, Ontario, N6J 1Y5, (519) 641-6883. The Dalhousie University School of Physiotherapy MSc (Physiotherapy) program received ACCPAP accreditation in the Fall of 2008.
