Biography: Professor King has dedicated her life to helping children. She has an extensive background in clinical physiotherapy – over 30 years of practise in the field of paediatrics. Most of her work has been with children with neurological or developmental disabilities such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida and Down’s Syndrome.

Through her module in scientific inquiry, Professor King provides the students with the tools necessary to critically evaluate health literature and contribute to the evidence base of physiotherapy. Her other module covers professional and ethical issues, and encourages lifelong learning in practical and theoretical applications of physiotherapy and other health care topics. To promote this passion for learning, she is actively involved with her students, and maintains an open-door policy to ensure they receive as much support as they need for their academic pursuits.

Professor King is actively involved in the Nova Scotia Physiotherapy Association (NSCPA) and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and is a practising part-time pediatric physiotherapist at the IWK Children's Hospital in Halifax. Most recently, she was selected by the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists as the recipient of Physiotherapist of the Year.
